Alex is back after a week off of the podcast. Today, he has Jack Richardson making his return to the Last Word on Sens Podcast! Alex and Jack look over multiple Ottawa Senators issues, including the defence and lack of critical offence. Exploring why a 3-4-0 record just won't cut it as well as why it is frustrating they have been this poor. Both guys agree this team has shown potential for so much more, including on their latest road trip.
However, at the end of the day the consistency just hasn't been there. They then switch their focus to how the Sens may handle the goalie situation with 12 games in their next 21 days. The workload will undoubtedly be split between the two of them. Finally, they talk about Alex Formenton and why he doesn't have a contract. As well as why it is important to remember the investigation that is ongoing.

How does the defence core survive without him? Plus, should DJ Smith's job be on the line? This team has been sputtering for a third straight year, will the coach be the one to blame? Senators for Sale, Meltdown on Ice, and Jersey Retirement Announcement
Wednesday Nov 09, 2022
Wednesday Nov 09, 2022
Alex is back after a very tough stretch for the Ottawa Senators. When he last recorded, they were fresh off of winning four of five at home and things felt good in Senators' land. However, an 0-5 stretch has things absolutely down the drain. How bad is it? They are already seven points out of a playoff spot and it is only November. Any further and the team is in serious trouble of yet another fully lost season with nothing but a few "feel good" stories at the end. Something everyone admitted wasn't acceptable.
Alex goes through the five-game stretch and dissects what he liked and disliked. From there, he switches to the massive news of the week. The team is for sale! With the Ottawa Senators for sale come multiple questions. It is already clear they intend to stay in Ottawa, but who will buy them? Ryan Reynolds has been in the media lately saying he would love it, and Alex discusses that option. Finally, Alex gives his thoughts on the announcement that Chris Neil will have his jersey retired.

Sunday Oct 09, 2022
Alex is back for another episode! Today is his final episode before the 2022-23 Ottawa Senators season gets underway. To help him preview everything, friend of the podcast Derek Lee makes his return. Derek hasn't been on the podcasts since the start of last season, so the two discuss how different of a feeling it is entering this year.
Last year, the Sens were coming off of a disappointing offseason which soon translated into a brutal start. However, this year has been the exact opposite. Obviously, the results are undetermined so far, but the offseason has been nothing but positive. The guys look at the forwards, defence, and goaltending. Giving their opinion on all three of them and highlighting what they are excited about, as well as what they are worried about.
Overall, the guys agree that they are very excited about this season. Something that truthfully hasn't been the case for the past few years. Stay with the Last Word on Sens podcast all year for analysis and opinions!

Tyler Motte Contract and Examining Brassard / Dal Colle
Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Alex is back with another episode before the season starts. Today, he takes a look at the Tyler Motte contract and gives his opinions on the player and what it means for the team. Usually, he would have a guest with him to help break down the signing and give their opinion as well. But today, Alex is going solo. In a much shorter episode than usual, Alex felt it was important to post something but couldn't find anyone last minute.
After the Motte deal, Alex switches his focus to two professional tryouts that Ottawa signed. Those are Derick Brassard and Michael Dal Colle. Jumping into why PTOs are a good call for any team, Alex examines both player's career paths. Obviously, Sens fans know Brassard very well. However, some may not know just how weird of a career he has had since leaving Ottawa in 2018. Alex looks at where both players come from and what their role may be if they were to join the Sens on an actual contract this season.

Alex is back with another episode of the Last Word on Sens podcast. With a relatively quiet August, he took most of the month off. However, there has been some massive news lately and the podcast is back! Making his return to the podcast to assist Alex is Steve on Sens. Today, the two start by looking at the Tim Stutzle contract and why it is crucial to the Sens rebuild. Both Alex and Steve give their takes on why they like the deal, along with any potential risk it may include.
From there, they also look at the Erik Brannstrom deal and explain why this may actually seal his time as an Ottawa Senator. What do they want to see from Brannstrom and his usage this year? Is there anything that can save his time in Ottawa? Finally, they ask the question of is this defence core good enough as is. The two dive into that topic, looking at how this core could be used this season.

Alex is back with another incredibly busy week of action! Today, he will be looking at the Ottawa Senators Offseason. Pierre Dorion has been on a mission this summer, and the moves have been plentiful. Joining him to break it all down is Silver Seven writer, Trevor Shackles! Trevor has joined Alex twice before and today, the guys have a ton to talk about.
They start with the first piece that happened since the last podcast. And that would be Ottawa acquiring Cam Talbot in net. They discuss what it means for Ottawa's goalie situation both now and going forward. From there, they take a look at two massive signings in Claude Giroux and Joshua Norris. The guys discuss whether or not Giroux is the biggest free agent signing the Sens have ever had. As well, they also talk about the risk that comes with a Norris signing.
Finally, the guys switch their attention to what kind of deals they want to see for remaining RFA's in Ottawa. As well as how they want to see the right side of the defence upgraded upon.

They quickly discuss a Joshua Norris extension and the rest of the draft before diving into the Matt Murray trade. Episode 43 of the Last Word on Senators Podcast is here! Today, Alex has the one and only Jamie McLennan join him to discuss the Ottawa Senators roster, season, and offseason coming up. With McLennan, Alex gets into players seasons such as Shane Pinto, Connor Brown, Tim Stutzle, and more. Looking at who or what the team can add alongside those guys to make this roster a competing one next year. Additionally, they look at the goaltending situation and what to expect from Anton Forsberg next season. With Matt Murray and his health a question, will the Sens use a three-goalie rotation? All of this and more, with the Last Word on Sens Podcast!
